The recruitment process for CGPSC Assistant Librarian 2026 is conducted in multiple stages to ensure fair evaluation of candidates:

• Preliminary Examination: A screening test with 100 objective questions (100 marks, 2 hours). Subjects include Library Science, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Computer Knowledge, Reasoning, General Knowledge, and GK of Chhattisgarh. Conducted bilingually (Hindi & English). Marks are not counted in the final merit. Candidates in a 1:15 ratio are shortlisted for the Main Exam.
• Main Examination: A descriptive written paper (3 hours, 100 marks) based on Library & Information Science syllabus. Topics cover Ranganathan’s Five Laws, Classification systems (DDC, UDC, CC), Cataloguing (CCC, AACR-II, MARC), IT applications, automation, and more.
• Maximum of 15 marks. Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio from Main Exam qualifiers. Absence in interview leads to disqualification.
• Final Merit List: Prepared solely on the basis of Main Exam and Viva-Voce scores. Preliminary marks are excluded.
• Document Verification: Provisionally selected candidates must present original certificates and supporting documents to confirm eligibility.
