Selection Procedure – OPSC Civil Judge Recruitment 2026
- Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination: A screening test with 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks. Duration is 1.5 hours. Negative marking applies. Subjects include Constitution of India, Civil & Criminal Procedure Codes, Evidence Act, Penal Code, Contract Law, Property Law, Succession Law, Specific Relief Act, and other relevant laws.
- Stage 2 – Main Examination: Candidates qualifying prelims will appear for the Main Exam. It consists of two compulsory papers (General English and Procedural Laws) and three optional papers chosen by the candidate (Law of Crimes & Torts, Personal Laws, Property Laws, Contract Laws, Jurisprudence & Constitution). Each paper carries 150 marks.
- Stage 3 – Interview/Viva Voce: Shortlisted candidates from the Main Exam will face an interview carrying 100 marks. Questions may cover law subjects, general awareness, and national/international issues. Candidates must secure at least 40% marks in the interview to be considered for final selection.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview. In case of a tie, merit is decided by marks in the Main Exam, then LLB marks, and finally age (older candidate preferred).
- Document Verification: All certificates and testimonials submitted online will be verified before the interview. Any discrepancy may lead to cancellation of candidature.
