The CSIR CLRI Recruitment 2026 examination will be conducted in OMR-based or Computer-based objective type format. The exam pattern varies by post, ensuring fair evaluation of candidates’ skills.

• Junior Stenographer: One paper with three parts – General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension (200 questions, 2 hours). Proficiency test in Stenography is qualifying only.
• Junior Secretariat Assistant (Gen/S&P/F&A): Two papers – Paper I (Mental Ability Test, 100 questions, 90 minutes) and Paper II (General Awareness & English Language, 100 questions, 60 minutes). Typing test is qualifying only.
• Multi-Tasking Staff: One paper with four parts – General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Language (150 questions, 2 hours).

Negative Marking: Applicable in most papers (0.25 or 1 mark per wrong answer depending on the post). Duration: Exams range from 2 to 2.5 hours, with extra time for candidates eligible for scribe. Merit List: Prepared based on written exam marks; proficiency tests are qualifying in nature.

The selection process for CSIR CLRI Recruitment 2026 is designed to ensure fair evaluation of candidates across different posts. It primarily consists of a competitive written examination, followed by proficiency tests where applicable. The final merit list is prepared based on written exam performance, with proficiency tests treated as qualifying in nature.

• Junior Stenographer: Candidates must qualify the Stenography Proficiency Test (dictation and transcription). Final merit is based solely on marks obtained in the written examination.
• Junior Secretariat Assistant (Gen/S&P/F&A): Candidates must qualify the Computer Typing Speed Test. Final merit is determined only from Paper II of the written examination.
• Multi-Tasking Staff: Selection is based entirely on marks obtained in the written examination. No additional proficiency test is required.
